I have been home now for eight days after spending three+ weeks in Manitoba helping my Mom who had experienced an acute stroke on June 26, 2015. In the following two weeks she also experienced several complications. While in Manitoba I took time for myself. I would travel the 1.5 to visit Mom in the Hospital and while there connect with various members of her Medical Team. Spend time visiting or reading to my Mom for 15-20 minutes, then take a break in the Family Room while she rested.
The next day I would stay at Mom’s place, while another family member would go to visit. On those days I would work on my list of items that I had taken over from my Mom, replenish and make our supper.
Today, I was able to do a “summer cleaning” on our bedroom and bathroom. I had done our closet earlier in the year. It is so nice to have it vacuumed, walls washed, blinds dusted, windows washed. It is so good for my mental, emotional, physical and spiritual cobwebs to have done that work. I managed to work through some personal issues. A MOMENT OF JOY
I also had time to sort out some cupboards in the kitchen that needed some attention. One of those cupboards held a significant selection of vitamins that my husband Rod and I used to take on a regular basis. Those vitamins etc are off to the pharmacy to be disposed of properly. After having carried out a lot of research, came to the conclusion that I did not need them and perhaps they were even harmful to me. For the past 18 months we have stopped taking all those vitamins and have actually felt better – without any major colds, flu’s etc. A SECOND MOMENT OF JOY
Rod and I had a marvelous impromptu picnic (late lunch – early supper) while watching the Washington Tennis final. A THIRD MOMENT OF JOY.
I feel as if today I have loosened some blockages that have been holding me back. Cleaning out my home, clearing out some cobwebs, making my surrounding organized, clean and appealing. I have gained some of my MoJo back – refueled my Resilience.
