How Significant Is My Life?
How many people would even notice if I wasn’t here anymore? How has my time on this rock made a difference? Will my time here on this plane even be remembered by anyone? Will anything that I did during my time here remain – when I am gone onto to the next part of my journey?
Are these questions that keep you awake at night or wake you at 4:00am? I find having just reached 60 years of age – that I find these questions cropping up more often than when I was 30 years old. In todays world of uncertainty and doubt we are seeing increasing numbers of people experiencing anxiety, burnout, and depression – I find this is a topic that more and more people are wrestling with. Of course the closer we come to that final chapter in our story, the more this theme appears in our thoughts, internal dialogue and perhaps in conversation with friends.
The answer is “YES”. You do make a difference.
How do I know this? and How does this work?
Every move we make, Every action we take matters – not just for us – but for all of us – for all time.
For example – just think for a minute about your family. You would not be here today reading this blog if were not for your parents meeting and creating you. All of your life experiences – decisions, actions and inactions have contributed to your finding your way to this point. If you have a grandchild like I do that you just love and adore – they would not be here if not for your decisions, actions and inactions along the way.
There are people and situations that I have met along the way – that I know our meeting has made a difference in their life and mine as well. From meeting them other situations and or events have occurred that have led me to opportunities and difficulties.
Journal Prompt: What situations show that you made a difference – big or small?
